The Calgary Transit and the Animal Rescue Society (AARCS) came together to spread a little puppy love, to remind people that adopting is best and relieve some stress.
Nicole Janke from Fundraising and Resource Development at AARCS says this is something everyone needs.
“Puppies and animals, in general, are proven to reduce anxiety levels and it’s a great start to everybody’s day, maybe relieving a little bit of anxiety over tonight’s game and all the changes that everybody’s going through,” says Janke.
She says pets are scientifically proven to be beneficial to your health. For example, they reduce stress, lower your blood pressure and even help your heart.
And that’s what Calgary Transit and AARCS were hoping to show riders today.
Transit riders got the opportunity to destress before heading to their destinations at the Anderson station as the puppy bus was all the rage.

“I’m so excited to see the puppies. I love puppies and how can your day start bad if you’re with puppies,” said one commuter.
“It’s like a hugging cloud,” another added.
Stephan Taruo with Calgary Transit says with the success of the event, Calgary Transit hopes to do more in the future.
“It’s something really exciting for customers especially and it really brings back a little bit of that community experience with Calgary Transit. It’s more than just going from A to B it’s about building community and having a fun time together as customers,” Taruo said.
