Second overnight fire in Calgary’s Evanston community damages multiple homes

Fire crews were called to put out a fire at a home in Calgary’s Evanston community Saturday morning.

Crews arrived at the home on the 100 block of Evansmeade Common N.W. around 4:45 a.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters called a second alarm and quickly doused the flames.

The fire department says two two-storey houses were significantly damaged. Crews needed to evacuate three adults and six children from the homes.

Three neighbouring houses also had minor heat damage. Residents from those homes were also safely evacuated.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

This fire is the second one within the past 24 hours in the same community. Two houses were significantly damaged in Evanston on Friday afternoon.

The Calgary Fire Department is asking anyone who may have photos, video, or information around the time of the fire is asked to email piofire@calgary.ca.
