Cochrane RCMP are urging the public to help with a possible child abduction.
Around 4:15 p.m. Thursday, a youth at the Willows Playground in south Cochrane told their parents they saw a child picked up from a sidewalk and placed into the back seat of a vehicle.
The youth’s parents contacted the police, who do not have a detailed description but say the possible victim is described as around 10-years-old and dressed in blue.
The possible driver was described as a male who was clean-shaven and wearing a CAT (the heavy equipment brand) ball cap with yellow letters.
The man was allegedly driving what’s described as a newer model, dark blue Jeep Cherokee.
Investigators are in the area searching for more witnesses and video.
“Investigators ask that if anyone has information that the incident could be a misunderstanding to please contact RCMP,” a statement reads.
If you have any information about the incident or have cam footage or home security camera footage from the area of Willow Green and Willow Way on June 9 between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., contact Cochrane RCMP at 403-851-8000.
