Alberta mental health ‘Text4Hope’ tool provides daily dose of positive affirmations

Alberta Health Services is encouraging anyone feeling stress, anxiety, and depression due to COVID to access supports like Text4Hope.

The Mental Health Foundation in partnership with multiple local and provincial health foundations is providing this text messaged-based service for free.

Text4Hope takes place over the course of three months and provides a daily dose of cognitive behavioral therapy-based text messages written by mental-health therapists.
According to AHS, this opt-in service is an evidence-based tool that helps people identify and adjust negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, especially during the course of the pandemic.

Text4Hope sends daily messages in the form of self-help advice, which provides encouragement in developing healthy personal coping skills and resiliency.
The service is available in multiple languages including Arabic, Chinese, French, and Punjabi. Those interested in receiving daily updates can text COVID19HOPE to 393939.
