Calgary lifts boating advisory for Bow and Elbow rivers

The City of Calgary has lifted boating advisories issued earlier this month for the Bow and Elbow rivers on Thursday, as river flows return to normal.
The city says people can resume normal activities on the Bow river, Elbow river, and Glenmore reservoir as long as they practice caution as there is still reduced visibility, and the water temperature remains cold.
Due to improved conditions on the rivers, the boating advisories issued on earlier this month are being lifted as of today.

Advisories are normally issued when river flows exceed levels.
This mostly happens during the spring and summer runoff season as melting snow and floating debris create dangerous boating conditions.
On the other hand, advisories are normally lifted when flow rates on the rivers decrease.

The city adds weather conditions in Calgary are unpredictable this time of year and can change without warning, such as thunderstorms which may result in rapid, short duration increases in flow.
