Calgary police looking for arson suspect

Calgary police have released a video of a suspected arsonist hoping that people can help identify and locate him.

Officers say the suspect was captured on CCTV footage from a retail store in the area where the arsons happened.

Police believe the man is responsible for lighting a shed on fire behind a home with a family inside it in the southeast community of Varsity on May 18.

Shortly after, the fire spread to the home itself, leading to extensive damage, but the family was able to escape unharmed.

Police previously released multiple photos of the suspect.

Police say you should not approach the man if you see him.

Anyone with information about the suspect or his whereabouts is asked to call the police non-emergency number 403-266-1234 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
