Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Calgary and surrounding areas

Severe thunderstorms are expected for parts of southern Alberta on Saturday.
Environment Canada meteorologists say they are tracking a severe thunderstorm.
The thunderstorm watch was issued for Calgary and surrounding areas including Airdrie, Cochrane, Olds, Sundre, Kananaskis, Canmore, Okotoks, High River and Claresholm.
Severe thunderstorms are expected in parts of southern AB & SK today. Strong wind gusts are the main threat, with hail also likely. Have a way to receive alerts and stay safe this Canada Day Long Weekend.

Strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain are in the forecast.
Environment Canada warns severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.
