A morning shooting in Calgary’s northeast has left two people seriously hurt.

Police say they were called to 36 Street NE near 64 Avenue NE just before 6 a.m. on Saturday for reports of gunshots.

When officers arrived they found two victims who had been shot several times.

Staff-Sgt. John Guigun says the victims have been taken to hospital.

“Both victims are in serious but stable condition in hospital. I think both have been to the operating room and are recovering,” said Guigun.

The investigation is ongoing and police are in the process of interviewing people who were at the scene.

Guigun says investigators are also looking through surveillance footage from the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Calgary police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
