It turns out a Calgary fire crew was just around the corner. Firefighters were able to put the blaze out, though the truck did end up with some damage.

The front end of the vehicle has melted away, though the flames did not spread to any nearby structures or vehicles.

Police say officers were able to make sure two women waiting at a bus shelter right near the cruiser got out of the way without injury.

The exact cause of the fire remains unclear at this time.
