Calgary International Bluesfest 2022 returns to Shaw Millenium Park

The 18th annual Calgary International Bluesfest is coming back to town this summer.

The festival is set to take place at venues around the city with the main showcase at Shaw Millenium Park from July 25 to 31 as a family-friendly event that will showcase “world-class” music, vendors hawking goods at “colorful art markets,” and “delicious” foods to sample by local YYC food trucks, according to The Calgary International Blues Festival.

The Bluesfest consists of a series of weeklong events, including local performances, workshops, and live Q & A sessions with musicians.

Curt Young & the Healers will be kicking off the festival at the King Eddy Rooftop at 7 p.m. on Monday, followed by a songwriting workshop at the Memorial Park Library on Tuesday and a blues history lesson seminar by legendary blues boogie pianist David Vest on Wednesday evening.

Also performing, are Blues Hall of fame Inductee Joe Louis Walker, Texas Golden Girl Trudy Lynn, contemporary blues vocalist Janiva Magness, R&B soul greats the Blackburn Brothers, and more.

The main part festival is set to begin at Shaw Millenium Park on July 28 and is accessible from the Downtown Kerby West CTrain station.
