Alberta to see arctic winter weather, according to Farmers Almanac
Albertans enjoying a record hot summer may not like the forecast coming from the Farmer Almanac’s latest winter report.
According to the almanac, the entire country will see “cold snowy weather” starting in December, but Alberta will be hit the hardest.
The prairie provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba will be hit hard with heavy snows and a sweep of bitter cold air, with tons of snow both in January and February.

The almanac is also raising “red flags” for the first week of January as temperatures are expected to hit below -40 degrees. They also report heavy snow and rain from Jan.16-23 for the eastern provinces.
If that wasn’t enough, the almanac says to expect winter to “go out like a lion,” with March bringing “more heavy snow,” heading into spring, right as the spring equinox starts.
Although the almanac’s 200-year-old methods are top secret, some say their predictions, which can be surprisingly accurate, are based on sun spots and moon phases, as well as ‘proprietary formulas’ that are based on meteorology.
Caleb Weatherbee is their forecaster, though that’s the pseudonym they use for all their past and present forecasters. It’s still a secret on how the almanac gathers their information.
