The United Conservatives are being shut down by Calgary Pride.
The organization has denied the governing party’s application to march in the upcoming parade.
“We’re disappointed that Calgary Pride organizers have chosen to exclude Alberta’s largest political party, and the countless Albertans who identify as members and supporters of it, from an event that highlights representation, inclusion, and diversity,” said the United Conservative caucus of Alberta in a release.

“Alberta’s United Conservative Caucus applied to participate in the 2022 Calgary Pride parade and festival, to support and stand in solidarity with members of Alberta’s 2SLGBTQ+ community,” according to the release.
“United Conservatives are grateful to have a diverse organization, with members of Alberta’s 2SLGBTQ+ making meaningful contributions to our party, caucus, government, and movement.”
Calgary Pride had banned political parties from participating in the event in 2019 but decided to reverse that.
The Alberta NDP application to march on at this year’s parade has been approved.
