Calgary’s Cale Makar, Logan O’Connor bring Stanley Cup down Bow River

If you saw a shimmer in the Bow River Tuesday, it just might have been hockey’s hallowed Stanley Cup.

Cale Makar and Logan O’Connor, both from Calgary, won the cup with the Colorado Avalanche this year.

Players who win the championship trophy are traditionally entitled to their “day with the cup” and Makar and O’Connor decided to bring it home to the city.

Throughout the day, Makar and O’Connor could be seen flaunting the cup with fans and at local restaurants in the city.

The champions enlisted the help of the Calgary Fire Department to float down the waterway, starting their boat-ride from between the Peace Bridge and Edworthy Park.
