Calgary man drowns in B.C.’s Cultus Lake

A Calgary man drowned in Cultus Lake, just east of Abbotsford in B.C’s Fraser Valley over the weekend.

Police and paramedics were called to the lake near Entrance Bay Saturday night, after witnesses reported that a 33-year-old man had gone into the water with friends and went under.

“Tragically, the man was unable to swim and became submerged in deep water where he drowned,” said Sgt. Krista Vrolyk with the Chilliwack RCMP. “Our thoughts and condolences go out to this man’s family and friends.”

The body of the victim was later recovered.

The drowning is still under investigation by Chilliwack RCMP and the BC Coroners Service.
