Calgary police are looking for one suspect after a shooting left a woman dead and a man in life-threatening condition Thursday morning.
It happened just before 8:30 a.m. near Everwoods Court SW in the community of Evergreen.
Officers say they were called to the area for reports of two people in medical distress, and found a woman and a man in a parked car. Both had been shot.
31-year-old Nakita Baron was pronounced dead at the scene and the man was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.
Police say the suspect walked up to a car in a driveway and shot at it before driving away in a black Mitsubishi Eclipse SUV.
S. Sgt. Sean Gregson with Calgary police says investigators believe the shooting was targeted.
“Although this does not appear to be a random incident, it remains unknown which of the victims, or if both, were targeted in this brazen act of violence which occurred at a time when families were active in the neighbourhood,” Gregson said.
