42nd annual Terry Fox Run returns to Calgary after two year hiatus

One of the largest fundraising events is set to take place across Canada after three years of virtual challenges due to the pandemic.

For the first time since 2019, Canadians across the country will come together in person for the Terry Fox run, raising funds for cancer research.

The 42nd annual run will take place Sept. 18, uniting neighborhoods and schools with up to four million Canadians expected to participate.

Calgary will also hold a one-hour high-family fitness class at the McMahon Stadium on Sept. 24.

The Terry Fox Run is considered one of the largest fundraising events in support of cancer research in the world, with local events taking place in 33 countries and raising nearly $850 million dollars until today, according to the Terry Fox Foundation.

The well-known Terry Fox School Run takes place in schools and communities annually every year on Sept. 23 across Canada, with nearly 9,000 schools and 3 million students participating, says the Terry Fox Foundation.

Entry by donation or registration can be found on their website.
