Calgary’s countdown begins to the annual Terry Fox Run

The Terry Fox Run will make a return to an in-person format in Calgary and Cochrane after a two-year hiatus.

On Sunday, Sept 18, at Fort Calgary and at Cochrane’s Mitford park, individuals and teams will be walking, wheeling, jogging, and running to raise funds for cancer research.

The number 42 will have a big significance for this year’s event.

Not only is this the 42nd annual run, but coincidentally 42 is the number of kilometers Terry Fox would run on an average day, in what is considered a fitting tribute.

Many have joined Club 42 by racking up their own 42 kilometers in their tribute to Terry Fox.

Other showcases include Brandon Cruze of Cochrane, Alberta who will pay his tribute to Terry Fox through a round-trip bicycle ride of 42 kilometers from Cochrane to Calgary.

According to the Terry Fox Foundation in Calgary, this year’s event is set to see a record number of people participating in the annual run.

However, you will have to participate to raise funds for cancer research in Terry Fox’s name.
