Calgary police on lookout for suspect in vehicle theft involving a dog

Calgary police are looking for a man they believe is responsible for a vehicle theft that involved a dog in Cranston in late August.

Police say they received calls of a vehicle theft in Cranford Way SE on Aug. 27, at around 8 p.m. The victim’s dog was inside at the time of the theft.

Officers say that a stolen 2022 Volkswagen Jetta was abandoned in Ogden shortly after its initial theft.

They add a good Samaritan found the dog running in Auburn Bay five days later and returned the dog to the owner.

Investigators say the suspect is around 30 years old, around 5’10” tall, with dark hair, a slim build, and visible tattoos on his face.

They add the suspect was last seen wearing a red T-shirt, a red baseball cap, and dark pants.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
