Halloween candy laced with fentanyl discovered: Alberta RCMP

A parent in Rocky Mountain House discovered fentanyl in their child’s Halloween candy Wednesday, according to Alberta RCMP.

Mounties say the parent was going through their child’s candy when they found three pieces of a “dark, unknown substance.”

The substance was in plain sight, with officers saying there was “no intent to camouflage it in the candy.”

Investigators say they ran tests Thursday and confirmed a positive test for fentanyl.

Police say they are not sure if a criminal offense has been committed, but they want to remind parents to check all the candy children received.

They say all unsealed candy should be thrown out, and parents should call their local police.
