Body found after Radisson Heights apartment fire in SE Calgary

Calgary fire crews were called to a building in the city's southeast on Monday morning and discovered a body in the unit where they believe the fire started.

A person was found dead after an apartment fire in Calgary’s southeast neighbourhood of Radisson Heights Monday morning.

Calgary police say they were called to Albert Park Apartment near 26 Street and 16 Avenue just after 7 a.m. by the Calgary Fire Department after firefighters found a body.

Firefighters say when they got there, the 3-story building’s fire alarms were going off and people were leaving the building.

The fire was already out by the time crews went inside, and the only person in the unit where the fire started was found dead.

People were let back into the building just after 8:30 p.m.

No other injuries were reported, and police say the arson unit is investigating.
