Fire damages Bridgeland community centre

Fire broke out at the Bridgeland Riverside Community Association Monday morning causing significant damage to the building.

Crews were called to the building, which is near 9 Street NE and Centre Ave NE, around 4:30 a.m.
The fire is believed to have started outside the building but quickly spread to the west side of the community centre, damaging two floors.
The association says it will be closed while investigators assess the situation.
“While the investigation is underway & damage is inspected, all rental and usage of the hall will be temporarily suspended. We will keep you updated on the situation as we can. Thank you for your understanding,” the community centre said in a tweet.

EMS says no injuries were reported.
