Survey says: Province wants to hear from Albertans on upcoming budget

The province is asking Albertans to participate in the development of next year’s budget through an online survey or a written submission.

The 15-minute survey will allow people to share their ideas and priorities. It will remain open until Jan. 15.

The written submissions are meant for municipalities and organizations to share what is important to them.

The province says Albertans will be able to ask questions and share ideas with Finance Minister Travis Toews through public calls.

“We will call publicly listed numbers on the dates below so Albertans can share their ideas directly with Finance Minister Travis Toews,” the government wrote on its website. “You will also be able to listen and ask questions online once the telephone town halls begin.”

The calls will take place Dec. 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. for northern Alberta, including Red Deer, and Dec. 20 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. for southern Alberta.

The government says as the cost of living and inflation are growing, they want to give people an opportunity to decide for their future.

“Budget 2023 is an opportunity to keep more money in your pockets, improve our health-care system, create jobs and grow our economy – and continue to stand up for Albertans.”

The budget will be finalized and released February 2023.
