Calgary police officer charged in alleged road rage incident

A Calgary police constable is facing charges following an alleged road-rage incident in the city’s northeast that happened over the summer.

It happened on Aug. 30 at around 6 p.m. in the northeast community of Skyview.

Police say the officer, who was off-duty at the time, got into a verbal confrontation with another driver, which escalated to “one driver striking the other.”

Officers responded after a 911 call was made.

After the incident was reported to the Alberta Director of Law Enforcement, it was left to the Calgary Police Service (CPS) to investigate.

Calgary police officer Lisa Bischke, 42, was charged with assault and driving without due care and attention.

Officers say Const. Bischke has been with the CPS for seven years and remains on administrative duties pending review.

Because the incident happened off-duty, any potential for internal discipline depends on the outcome of the criminal case, so officers cannot investigate until the courts process is complete.
