Calgary Police seize 2 firearms, lay charges after Martindale shooting

Calgary Police Service (CPS) seized two firearms and charged four suspects in relation to the city’s home invasion and shooting that happened earlier in January.

CPS says on Jan. 2 at around 3:30 p.m., multiple suspects broke into a home located at the intersection of Martindale Boulevard and Martinbrook Road NE.

They then allegedly assaulted the resident in the house with a pistol and stole multiple items, such as cash and electronics. The assault resulted in a shooting that injured the victim and damaged his house.

Officers say CCTV footage helped identify the suspects. One day after the incident, they arrested two suspects, a man and a woman, in a stolen car with a 12-gauge, short-barrel shotgun, ammunition and a crossbow.

Police say on Jan. 7, they identified more suspects as they searched a home on Applewood Court SE, where they seized “a 3D-printed revolver-style pistol, multiple types of ammunition, a crossbow, a compound bow and a small amount of methamphetamine and cocaine.”

They say the incident was targeted, and the victim knew the suspects from before.
