After Calgary received up to 14 centimetres of snow Thursday night, the city is expected to get more flurries “on and off” Saturday, according to the City of Calgary.
The city adds freezing temperatures are also in the forecast, with risk of frostbite.
City crews will be working on clearing the roads per their priority list.
The list includes the city’s main roads that see 20,000 or more vehicles per day and downtown roads.
Snow is also being removed from “city-maintained” sidewalks, pathways, stairs, ramps, and LRT stations.
As temperatures drop below -10 C, salt is no longer effective in melting snow, and gravel is used instead, which is Calgary’s case right now.
Calgarians are asked to pay extra attention to icy roads if they are planning on walking, cycling, or driving.
The city says there is no need for a “snow route parking ban.”
Calgarians are encouraged to plan ahead and to check the city’s website.
