Second arrest made in Christmas Day fatal shooting: Calgary police

Calgary police have made another arrest in connection to the fatal Christmas Day shooting in the Forest Lawn area.

Twenty-four-year-old Samuel Welday Haile died of his injuries after being taken to hospital early in the morning of Dec. 25.

The latest arrest follows one made in mid-January, with the suspect being charged with accessory to murder.

Investigators say the arrest was made in Edmonton on Feb. 1. However, the suspect has not been identified because it is an “ongoing investigation.”

Meanwhile, officers say they are still looking for 22-year-old Yosief Hagos, who is wanted Canada-wide for second-degree murder.

They add he was last seen in Red Deer on Dec. 25 and that the public in Red Deer and Edmonton may be able to provide information on his whereabouts.

Police also say, “if anyone is attempting to assist Hagos in evading police, we are equally committed to holding them responsible.”
