Olivia, Noah most popular baby names in Alberta – again

It’s a seemingly unstoppable spell that arguably leaves even Wayne Gretzky’s 56-game point streak in the dust.
For the 10th year in a row Olivia is the top baby name in Alberta, after the province revealed its most popular newborn names for 2022.
“You’re The One That I Want,” sang the late Olivia Newton John in the late ’70s. She may very well have been anticipating Albertans’ love for her given name – clearly it’s the one parents want.

Sophia, Emma, Amelia and Harper rounded out the top five. Harper was the 11th most popluar girl’s name in 2021.
The dedication to consistency is also true on the boy’s side of things.
Alberta remained biblical for the fourth year in a row, with Noah topping the list again.
Liam, Theodore, Oliver and Jack were the runner-ups. James returned to the top-10 after not appearing on the top list for three years.
A total of 48,225 births were registered in Alberta for 2022 – 24,781 boys and 23,437 were girls. The province says seven births did not indicate the sex of a baby at the time of registration.

“Congratulations to everyone who brought a child into this world in 2022,” said Minister of Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction Dale Nally at a news conference. “Alberta is a great place to live, and I see a positive future for all parents choosing to raise a family here.”
