Zellers announces menu items for reopening in Canada

When Zellers relaunches this spring, there won’t be an in-store restaurant but now we know what food will be offered at their so-called Diner on Wheels, which is essentially a food truck.

The discount retailer asked Canadians to give their input and the five featured menu items will be: the Biz Z Burger, hot chicken sandwich, grilled cheese, chicken fingers and fries and gravy.

“Although an in-store diner just isn’t possible, Zellers is mobilizing a fleet of food trucks to greet customers at its first locations,” the nostalgic Canadian company says in a statement. “Following the initial stops at the store locations… the Zellers Diner on wheels will gear up to head out for its cross-Canada debut.”

When Zellers finally re-enters the retail market, it will be in the form of in-store kiosks in The Bay and with a website that is said to include a marketplace component.
