Alberta celebrates acts of kinds on Pink Shirt Day

Wednesday is Pink Shirt Day, and the Government of Alberta is reminding people to support each other, and be inclusive and welcoming.

The day has been recognized worldwide in 2007 to fight bullying after a student from Nova Scotia was bullied in school for wearing a pink shirt.

The government took to Twitter to encourage Albertans to prevent bullying and create safe environments.

“Tag a photo of your pink shirt today to take a stand against bullying,” reads the tweet.

Meanwhile, the government’s website has more tips to celebrate the day, such as practicing acts of kindness, having open discussions with friends and family, fending resources to look for help, or even hosting a Pink Shirt Day party in your community.

People are also encouraged to share photos using the #PinkShirtDay hashtag.
