Lethbridge police seeks video for ‘suspicious’ hotel fire

Lethbridge police are asking people with dash cam footage who may have been in the area where a Friday morning fire broke out at a downtown hotel to come forward.

Police say the fire destroyed the historic Lethbridge Hotel, and it is deemed “suspicious.”

The hotel was the very first in the city and was built way back in 1885.

Fire crews were called at around 2:15 a.m. to the hotel along 5 Street SW. Police say when they arrived, they saw the hotel in flames. The building has been declared unstable and will be demolished Friday afternoon.

Police are asking anyone who may have been driving or walking in the area between 1:45 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. to call them at 403-328-4444, or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
