Darby Mills talks life after The Headpins

Canada’s Darby Mills is the former long-time lead singer of The Headpins, who had a hit debut album back in 1982 with “Turn It Loud” that sold over 500,000 copies and spawned the hit single “Don’t It Make Ya Feel” along with “People” and the title track.

Mills was fired by the band in 1985 after two more albums and while she returned to The Headpins in 1994 and toured until 2016, the death of her mother in 2013 and her husband’s heart attack six months later eventually sent her on a different course.

Mills has since gone on to form a new band, the “Darby Mills Project” but took some time to chat with City’s Todd Kaufman…
