Calgary police say man wanted Canada-wide arrested in B.C.

Calgary police say a man who has previously been convicted of sexually assaulting multiple women has been arrested in B.C.

Surrey RCMP says it made the arrest on April 9 at 8:30 p.m.

Marcel Parent, 46, was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant by the Correctional Service of Canada National Monitoring Centre for breaching a release order in relation to several sexual assaults.

The suspect has connections in Calgary and has a history of sexual assault, using weapons, and harassing and threatening victims.

Parent was convicted of sexual assault and possessing a dangerous weapon in 2002. He was sentenced to 30 months.

In 2009, he was convicted of robbing an employee at a Valley Ridge tanning salon at knifepoint and continually sexually assaulting the victim.

He served eight years in prison and was ruled to be a “long-term offender” after being released.
