Airdrie RCMP is searching for a cargo trailer that was being used for the move of a Crossfield family, after it was allegedly stolen Friday morning.
The trailer was attached to a truck in a parking lot on Railway Street and Osler Avenue in Crossfield, north of Calgary.
Mounties say the suspects allegedly detached the trailer from the truck between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m., then attached it to another one and took off.
They say personal documents, furniture, tools, a drum set, and a pair of “gun safes” containing 18 firearms are inside the trailer.
Police say the trailer is a black 2013 Pace American Cargo Trailer with license plate 4JW681.

“The police deal with people that are having bad days and have had bad things happen to them, but this is, I think, particularly challenging,” Cpl. James McConnell told CityNews.
“You have a family that’s put … their lifelong possessions into a trailer, and anytime somebody is moving, they’re looking for a new start. And to have that taken from them and to be unable to start somewhere new is really heartbreaking.”
Mounties ask anyone with information about this incident to contact the Airdrie RCMP at 403-945-7267 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
