Calgary police arrest suspect in Macleod Trail hit-and-run

A man is facing charges related to a crash in August 2022 that left one person seriously injured, according to Calgary police.

Domenico Buonincontri, 50, was arrested Friday and now faces “dangerous operation causing bodily harm” and hit-and-run charges.

The incident happened at the intersection of 5 Avenue and Macleod Trail SE at around 3:30 p.m. on Aug 9.

Officers say a 20-year-old woman was waiting to cross the street when she was hit by a silver/grey Jeep Gladiator travelling at a “high rate of speed.”

She was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition at the time.

Officers found the truck shortly after.
