Airdrie playground set on fire in alleged arson: RCMP

A playground at an elementary school in Airdrie caught fire Tuesday morning, with the incident suspected as arson, according to RCMP.

Mounties and the fire department were called to Ecole Edwards Elementary School at around 12:40 a.m.

They say two unknown persons ignited the rubber surface under the playground, which damaged the playground equipment.

At this time, the playground remains closed.

Officers are asking with CCTV footage or residential video surveillance to contact them at 403-945-7267 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
