Alert issued for Anzac, Gregoire Lake Estates

The Municipality has issued an evacuation alert due to the potential of a wildfire spreading south of Fort McMurray.

On May 2, 2023, the RMWB issued the alert for Gregoire Lake Estates, Anzac, and Fort McMurray First Nation #468.

“At this time, an Evacuation Order has not been issued. This is an alert/warning for residents in the affected area to be ready to leave on short notice.”

According to Alberta Wildfire, the fire is cataloged as MWF009.

Anyone affected should follow the Municipality on socials and its website for the latest updates.

  • Arrange with neighbours to advise one another of an emergency notification
  • Prepare a 72-hour emergency kit
  • Make an emergency plan for your household
  • Close all windows

 

This comes after the Municipality issued a Fire Restriction for most of Wood Buffalo the same morning.

“The dry conditions, warming temperatures and forecasted periods of high winds continue to elevate the wildfire risk. Everyone must use caution when working or enjoying the outdoors during this time.”
