1 taken to hospital after shooting in Calgary Forest Lawn

One person has been taken to hospital after shots were fired in Forest Lawn in Calgary’s southeast early Wednesday morning.

Officers say they received calls for shots fired at around 4 a.m. at 17 Avenue near 36 Street SE.

When they arrived, police found a man in his 30s in medical distress.

He was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition, which has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Police believe the incident was targeted.

At the time, police tape was up in the area, leading to traffic delays.

“Addressing gun violence continues to be a priority for our Service,” a statement from Calgary police said.

“Through investigation, prevention and enforcement activities, we have coordinated our resources to reduce victimization and enhance community safety.”
