Charges laid in deadly NE shooting: Calgary police

Calgary police have laid charges in a deadly shooting in the city’s northeast that happened late Thursday afternoon.

At around 5:30 p.m., officers responded to calls of a shooting on the corner of 23 Street and 24 Avenue.

Upon arrival, a man was found suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition, which has since been upgraded to stable.

Then, police say they responded to a pair of crashes shortly after and believe the two are related to the shooting.

One of the crashes happened in the plaza on 27 Avenue and 23 Street.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He died on the scene.

An autopsy on Friday identified the victim as 41-year-old Graeme Lee McColm.

The other crash was nearby on 26 Street and Sunridge Boulevard, where a 26-year-old man was arrested on scene.

Tyler James Redden is now charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder.

He is expected to appear in court on May 26.
