Two arrested after fatal stabbing in Olympic Plaza

Calgary police have two people in custody following a fatal stabbing downtown early Thursday morning.

Investigators say officers were patrolling downtown when they came across a man with life-threatening injuries.

Two suspects, a man and a woman, were quickly found and arrested, they add.

Police say the victim was found around 3 a.m. at the City Hall CTrain Station and was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries.

Authorities believe the fight occurred in Olympic Plaza and the victim made his way to the CTrain station before he collapsed.

Real-time CCTV footage from Calgary Transit and witness statements were used to locate the suspects, police say.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

Disruptions to traffic are expected to continue through the morning, with Northbound Macleod Trail between 7 and 9 Avenues closed.
