Monday is Election Day in Alberta and eligible Calgarians can vote at their assigned polling stations.
Election Day voting locations are most commonly established in schools, churches, community halls, and other public buildings.
In Calgary, there are 26 electoral ridings: Calgary-Acadia, Calgary-Beddington, Calgary-Bow, Calgary-Buffalo, Calgary-Cross, Calgary-Currie, Calgary-East, Calgary-Edgemont, Calgary-Elbow, Calgary-Falconridge, Calgary-Fish Creek, Calgary-Foothills, Calgary-Glenmore, Calgary-Hays, Calgary-Klein, Calgary-Lougheed, Calgary-Bhullar-McCall, Calgary-Bhullar-McCall Detail Map, Calgary-Mountain View, Calgary-North, Calgary-North East, Calgary-North West, Calgary-Peigan, Calgary-Shaw, Calgary-South East, Calgary-Varsity, and Calgary-West.
Electoral riding Calgary-Varsity has been updated and voting areas 29, 30, 31, and 32 were assigned to Brentwood School and have been moved to Ecole St. Luke School.
People can find their voting locations online. CityNews will have a breakdown of results by riding as they come in.
Mobile Voting, Special Ballot Voting
Calgarians receiving supports and services from treatment centres, hospitals, supportive living, long-term care facilities, shelters, and community support centres may vote at a mobile voting station for the facility if one has been established.
People who were unable to vote in advance or who can’t vote on Election Day due to physical disability, absence from their electoral division, being an inmate, election officer, candidate, official agent, or scrutineer, living in a remote area, and being displaced by wildfire can vote using the Special Ballot Voting.
The Special Ballot voting is available at Elections Alberta Head Office in Edmonton, and in the elector’s local returning office.
As the deadline to apply for a vote-by-mail package has passed, Special Ballot packages can now only be picked up or completed in person.
Voting locations will be open Monday until 8 p.m. You can follow the election with CityNews online.
