Three southwest Calgary communities have been placed under a boil water advisory following a water main break Thursday evening.
Alberta Health Services (AHS) has ordered the City of Calgary to issue the advisory, effective immediately and in place until further notice.
The advisory applied to the communities of Silverado, Yorkville and Belmont.
In a release, the city says a watermain break Thursday evening disrupted the water supply to several homes in the area.

“Our crews worked quickly to restore water after a main break on Thursday afternoon,” said Chris Huston, Acting Director of Water Services said in a statement. “We were able to restore water to the affected communities early Friday morning. The Boil Water Advisory has been issued out of an abundance of caution.”
While water was restored to most homes, the advisory has been put in place as a precautionary measure, it adds.
All residents and businesses within the affected area are advised to bring all tap water to a rolling boil for a least one minute prior to consuming it.
This goes for activities like drinking, brushing teeth, cleaning raw foods, preparing baby formula and making ice.
The city says water used for bathing or for doing laundry doesn’t need to be boiled.
Residents may opt to purchase bottled water to use during this advisory.
