Albertans were asked to cut back on power use late Wednesday afternoon thanks largely to this heat wave.
The Alberta Electric System Operator put in place a grid alert just before 4 p.m.
A note on their Twitter account says it was due to hot temperatures, little wind, and an unplanned generator outage.
The AESO declared a Grid Alert at 3:49 p.m. due to hot temperatures and low wind, combined with an unplanned generator outage.
