Langdon assault victim dies of injuries

RCMP east of Calgary are investigating a homicide after an assault victim died of her injuries in hospital Wednesday.

Investigators say Strathmore and Langdon RCMP responded to a call on May 26 just after 12 p.m. for reports of an assault at a home in Langdon.

When they arrived, police found a woman who was unresponsive.

She was taken to a Calgary hospital in serious condition.

They say a 31-year-old male resident of Langdon was arrested at the scene.

According to authorities, the woman succumed to her injuries and died Wednesday in hospital.

An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and will be assisted by Strathmore and Langdon RCMP and the RCMP Forensic Identification Unit.

RCMP add the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
