Taber RCMP seek suspect in 33 year sexual assault case

Mounties in Taber are asking for public help to find a sexual assault suspect from a 1990 case involving a 6-year-old girl.

They say it happened in the summer that year, and the child was taken from her home just outside Taber “by a person who was known to her.”

Then, RCMP say she was taken to a vehicle being driven by a man named Ian, who allegedly sexually assaulted her, causing life-altering injuries.

Police are working to identify the suspect and believe he was living in Taber at the time of the incident but may have lived in Lethbridge before or after it happened.

They add that he drove a motorcycle and had access to a light blue or grey 1980s “boxy” four-door sedan.

Officers describe the suspect as a “smoker with yellow or crooked teeth,” with brown or dirty blonde hair in a mullet, 5’10” tall, and with a skinny build. They add he was in his early 20s at the time.

Police ask anyone with information about the suspect can call Taber/Vauxhall RCMP Detachment at 403-223- 4447 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
