Calgary firefighters doused a blaze in northeast Calgary Wednesday that stemmed from a shed, leading to seven people being evacuated.
They responded to the blaze just before 2:30 p.m. at a home on Coventry Close.
When crews left the 31 station, they spotted black smoke in the distance, which led to the captain calling a second alarm for more resources.
Firefighters say they found a shed fully engulfed in flames upon arrival in the backyard, with “flames spreading to the house on the same property.”
Crews worked quickly to put down the fire in order to limit damage to the house and neighbouring homes.
Seven people — four from the source house — were forced to evacuate for their safety.
No injuries were reported, but one of the neighbouring homes sustained some heat damage to the siding.
Firefighters say extensive repairs are required to the main floor and parts of the second floor of the main home due to the smoke and fire that made its way inside.
