Pedestrian killed in northeast Calgary hit and run

A woman has been killed in Calgary’s northeast after she was struck by a vehicle which fled the scene Friday morning.

The incident occurred at 34 Street and 37 Avenue in the community of Horizon around 1:30 a.m., Calgary police say.

EMS says upon arriving at the scene, crews found a deceased adult woman who had been struck by a vehicle.

In an update Friday afternoon, police described the vehicle that fled the scene as a dark-coloured 2008 to 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan.

They say the vehicle will have noticeable front-end damage due to the collision.

Investigators had 34 Street between 34 Avenue and 39 Avenue closed for several hours while reconstruction crews investigated.
