Calgary severe thunderstorm watch ends: weather agency

Environment and Climate Change Canada’s severe thunderstorm watch ended in Calgary just before 6:30 p.m. Friday.

The watch was one of many happening in the city, as it has been hit with multiple storms lately, with one in the Didsbury area producing a tornado that damaged homes.

Parts of the city have also been hit with flash flooding in June and July, which led to some drivers getting stuck under overpasses.

Meanwhile, the city is also experiencing a “prolonged heat event” that is expected to last into early next week.

The ECCC says Calgarians should prepare for temperatures reaching 29 C and beyond combined with overnight lows near 14 C.
