Calgary police investigate CTrain collision that left pedestrian dead

Calgary police say they are continuing to investigate after a woman was killed after being hit by a CTrain downtown Wednesday.
Just before 9 a.m., officers were called to Centre Street and 7 Avenue SE for reports of a woman who was hit by a CTrain.
Investigators say the train was travelling east on the inbound track approaching Centre Street Station.
At the same time, they say the woman walked across 7 Avenue SE, stepped in front of the train, and was struck.
She then fell and became wedged underneath the CTrain before being dragged a short distance, according to police.

The driver then brought the train to a stop.
Police say the woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital in critical condition, where she later died.
No other injuries were reported in the collision.
Excessive speed is not considered to be a factor in the incident.
