Calgary police are issuing a warning to the public due to the release of a high-risk offender into the community.

Daniel Christopher Leonard, 45, is being released in Calgary Tuesday, Aug. 15, after serving 28 months in jail for sexual assault.

Authorities say the man has multiple convictions for sexual assault, indecent acts, and failing to comply with probation that have resulted to jail sentences.

Leonard committed most of his crimes in Red Deer, Edmonton, and Calgary, targeting women that he didn’t know, according to police.

The police service says the man will be closely monitored by the Calgary Police Service High Risk Offender Program.

He is described as 5’11” tall, 195 pounds, with brown eyes, and a bald head.

Police say this information is being issued as a matter of public interest.

They add the intent of this process is to enable members of the public to take appropriate precautionary measures and not to take any form of vigilante action.
