Fort Macleod theatre vandalized during Pride event

A southern Alberta entertainment venue in a protected heritage building will be closed until further notice, after it was vandalized during a Pride event.

The RCMP in Fort Macleod says on Saturday, Aug. 26, around 8:30 p.m., officers were patrolling the area around the Empress Theatre where a Pride event was taking place.

Police were alerted to a disturbance and say it was alleged that someone had set off a smoke bomb.

Following an investigation, police say it was fisher and marten lure oil.

Two suspects were arrested as they tried to leave the scene, the RCMP says. It adds the investigation is ongoing.

As the suspects are youth, no more information will be released.
